The house was built with a huge front porch, five bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious kitchen, indoor atrium, and an ornamental block living room. There is an on-demand hot water system providing economically heated water throughout. The house has been dressed in three coats of paint in and out. Stylish colonial style bars adorn every window. For the custom made solid wood doors, high quality laurel was used.

Overlay room dividers and base boards are constructed from teak wood. Beams and nailers using Molina were stained with a 50% linseed oil mix for longevity. The entire roof structure was done with 5 inch brass screws and bolted together ( no nails ) to increase structural integrity. All of the roof panels were screwed down as well. The roof was designed using a passive cooling technique. The small openings around the perimeter of the roof and the indoor atrium skylight create a chimney effect (all the hot air rises towards the opening in the center and quickly escapes). This process does well in helping to keep the house cool.

All of the columns and window frames were joined with cement steel arches creating an interlocking crown mold of one solid structure. The foundation, floor slab and outside sidewalk make a fully connected floating foundation for superior seismic strength.

The house was built on top of a small hill of solid rock. This has created 360 degree drainage away from the house assuring protection from any possible flooding during the heaviest of rainy seasons. There is a double tank septic system in place. The septic system is equipped with long and deep leach line, rock, gravel and sand layered for better filtration.

A key feature to this concept house is NO DEAD SPACE. Dead space is created in traditional homes when hollow walls and roof coverings on the inside create space for all manor of insects and small pests to make their home; a common occurrence in tropical locations. This home is built of solid, reinforced, pre poured interconnecting three inch concrete panels. Shelves are used in lieu of cabinets. The roof is not covered from the inside. Even foundation gaps have been eliminated. There is no space for pests to make a home.

The landscaping of this property is in progress. Many fruit trees have been planted including mango, papaya, banana, platano, avocado, star fruit, guava, orange, lime, palm, water apples, and breadfruit. The drive way and round about have been lined with a variety of greenery. Hibiscus has been planted along the fences to provide a sense of beauty, peace and privacy. The fertile soil on this lot is ideal for farming and gardening. A tilapia pond is in process using the run off from the winter tributary. This pond will be on the same property in the vicinity of this home. So in addition to being close to the beach there will be the relaxing sounds of a near-by water source.
